A shining finale to a sold out audience!

A shining finale to a sold out audience!

It wasn’t just the performers who were on their feet at the end of YOU CAN’T STOP THE BEAT at The Courtyard on Saturday 28th June, many of the audience were too! They had thoroughly enjoyed a fantasic evening’s entertainment. The variety show came about by Local mixed choir the Helen Vereker Singers wanting to celebrate their 10th Year in a memorable way so they joined up with the The Starlight Dance Company as Co-producers as well as Aspire Dance School taking part and BBC Wales funny man Owen Money holding it all together as compere.

It was an evening of toe-tapping and hand-clapping fun featuring modern day song and dance from the charts and the west end. Hits included All that Jazz, Find me somebody to love, Proud Mary, Dance with me tonight, Any dream will do, We like to boogie and Dancing Queen.

Both The Helen Vereker Singers and Starlight Company have raised thousands of pounds for charity and dedicated this show in aid of The Acorns Children’s Hospice.

It has been a very full year so far for all groups. The Singers are celebrating their 10th Anniversary and have performed throughout Herefordshire for many local charities over the years.  They have been asked to sing with the Brit-Award winning harmony trio, BLAKE, at The Courtyard on the 14th June, as well as Shrewsbury in October.   The Singers are also taking to the international stage in July with an appearance booked for the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod on 9th July.

Starlight has extended it’s range of dance-based fitness classes for children & adults in Herefordshire, hosted a holiday workshop with another to follow at the end of July at Hereford Sixth Form College, held various dance parties, choreographed Strictly Herefordshire, performed in Strictly Worcestershire and produced a Bollywood display! Whilst Aspire have moved into their own custom built dance studios in Weobley.

Plans are already in place for a repeat production, bigger and better for June 2016! WATCH THIS  SPACE!
